Obituary for Patsy A Gutierrez (Deem)

God welcomed into His Kingdom the beloved soul of Patsy A. Gutierrez, on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Patsy was 89 at the time of this transition and was a resident of the Congregational Home in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Her twin sister, Betty Conlon, was by her side as she took her last breath and as Heaven’s Gate opened to receive the spirit of her beloved sister.
Patsy Ann Deem was born November 29, 1928, to Myrtle and Loy Deem of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Messmer High School in 1947. From 1949-1969, Patsy was Sister Alicia of the School Sisters of St. Francis. As Sister Alicia, she attended and graduated from Alverno College with a Bachelor’s of Nursing Degree. Following her departure from Wisconsin in 1962, she spent several years in Central America doing humanitarian work and ministering to various communities. She became a civil servant and Embassy Nurse. In this capacity, she traveled all across the globe, offering her healing hand to those in need.
Patsy made it her purpose to fully celebrate life. She was a devoted homemaker and member of the Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed good manners, sewing and crafts, as well as baking for special occasions. Her love and kindness affected every person who came into her life. She will be remembered as the Mom who loved and greeted the friends of her children, as if they were her own. In her final years, she was treated with the same love, care, and respect she exemplified in her life of service by the wonderful staff at the Congregational Home, as well as the staff of Asera Care.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Master Gunnery Sergeant (retired) Ernesto Gutierrez, of Casa Grande, Arizona; as well as her parents Myrtle and Loy Deem, and her brothers, Ralph and Ret. Colonel Richard Deem. She is survived by her twin sister Betty Conlon; her two children, Ernie, Jr. of South Carolina and Marie Hansel of Waukesha, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind six grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
The visitation for Patsy will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the 12:00 noon Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Apostles,N35W23660 Capitol Dr. Pewaukee, WI. Burial will be with her husband in Casa Grande, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family.
