Obituary for Donald "Don" Sheskey

Donald "Don" Sheskey
Donald “Don” Sheskey of Waukesha, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the age of 87. Don was born on April 20, 1930, the son of Henry and Fern Sheskey. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Waukesha as a letter carrier and retired after 31 years of service. Don was a jazz musician playing drums and washboard with area groups including Six Friars and a Monk, Spring City Jazz, Banjo Barons, and The Varitones. Don’s passion for music began at age 9. While visiting his grandparents’ farm, he found an old minnow bucket, a piece of inner tube, some wire, and two willow sticks. When Don’s grandmother saw what he had, she took him to Beaver Dam the next day and bought him his first pair of drumsticks. Don also enjoyed hunting and playing golf. He also loved people, often saying “the more, the merrier.” His love and commitment to his wife, Ruth of 63 years was the closest you could get to God’s perfect marriage.
Loving husband of the late Ruth (nee Jespen) Sheskey, father of Kim (Cindy) Sheskey of Brandon, WI, Lori Olson of Waukesha, and Thomas (Sue) Sheskey of Waukesha; grandfather of Nick (Laura), Nate (Kaitlin), Katelyn (Kyle), Craig (Kim), Christopher, Eric, Kyle, Rusten (Katy), Garrett, and Spencer; great grandfather of Harlan, Gwen, Warren, Finley, Kyla, and Maci. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Don will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Deacon Marcia Marquart will be officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (see address above).
