Obituary for Richard "Mickey" Cook

Richard "Mickey" Cook
Richard (Mickey) M. Cook of Dousman, WI passed to his forever home on Tuesday, October 17. He was 84 years and 1 day old. He was born into this life on October 16, 1933 to Julius and Patricia (Sheehan) Cook in Milwaukee, WI.

Mickey was a life-long Teamster who worked hard and played hard. He had a practical, no-nonsense approach to life and could fix most anything mechanical. Most of his truck driving career was with Spector Freight Systems. He also worked at East Texas Motor Freight, Sentry Foods Distribution Center and Roundy’s Foods.

He is survived by loving wife Karen, and children, Victoria Cook (Philip Dirden) of Grass Valley, CA; David Cook (Maddy) of Ada, MI; Jacqueline Cook of DePere, WI and Rebecca Cook (Bill Stark) of Wauwatosa, WI and sister in-law Carol Kolakowski of Santa Barbara, CA. He also has many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many treasured friends. He was preceded in death by brother Jerry (Claudia Perkovich), his eldest son, Richard Cook Jr. (Linda Sawa), sister Beverly McGilvray and step daughter Sue Burdette.

As a young man he enjoyed fast motorcycles and cars. Later he took up flying as a private pilot and owned a Cessna Skyhawk. He was a life-long fan of old time country music. During his retirement years he enjoyed nature around his rural home, working on his tractors, and brandishing a PBR while telling a story or two.

Thank you to the special people at Angel’s Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc for their gracious care. Also thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.

Thank you to Cesarz Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home in assisting the family.

Per Mick's wishes there will be no service.
